MP's are obviously needed and they do a similar job that local Councillors do. Councillor get much less than MP's but, in my opinion, are much more involved and do a better job.
I think that the number of MP's should be doubled and their salaries halved. That way they will have more time to spend with their constituents and will not be coming into the job because they see it as a career opportunity.
