Headline figures mask jobs crisis
Labour market figures published last month showed another fall in unemployment, but also raised some awkward questions.'These figures make welcome reading, but with the economy still flat-lining it is hard to see how these trends can continue', said Frances O'Grady. The figures also revealed the continuing problem of underemployment, and that too many of the new jobs created over the past year were low-paid and insecure.
