Lambeth Council and TU secondments

I explained to a major opposition Councillor last night why Cllr John Whelers motion about TU facility time was wrong and not correctly thought out.

I pointed out that had Lambeth Council not been an organisation in constant change then there could be a reason to review the distribution of this facility, Lambeth Council has not, however, had the chance to have a normal existence for the last 20 years and starting from the days of the Service plan in the early 90s and then the changes arising out of the Appelby inquiry and many others the organisation has faced at least 7 to 10 major reorganisations every year. This of course means that staff affected have the legal right to be consulted and given that there is a normal 90 day consultation period there is very little or no time to deal with the fall out from these major changes, so I would argue and I am, that Lambeth Council should have more elected representatives on secondment and those that are currently doing the job right now need help and support and not criticism! Councillors have a duty of care to these reps.
