He is very confused about who he is and what modern Turkey means. He fantacises about the Ottoman empire but modern Turkey has little to do with the Ottomans. The empire was polyethnic. The area modern Turkey covers is in Asia minor a space inhabited for thousands of years by Hellenic, Kurdish and Arminian tribes. People inhabitting this peninsula are Greeks who were forced to turn to Islam for survival. They are genetically Greek especially in Western Turkey. The successful Ottoman army was made up by Genesaries who were Greek, Serbian, Albanian, Croatian and Bulgarian these people were abducted in childhood and turned into elite soldiers. Erdogan (probably of Armenian descent himself) will have a huge problem recruiting Greeks or Serbians fighting for his fantacy. In other wards he is living in clouds cookoo land in a very similar way as Sadam Hussein did! In addition he has jailed his most capable airforce personnel. Started writing my time and unique experience during my time with Lambeth first as a Convenor for Management Services under John Mwale the Dan CarMichel between 88 and 90 the Deputy Secretary 1994 1996 and then Branch Secretay 1996 to 2010 with Jon Rogers known as Jon of the Rogers. I stopped in 2019 when a number of people asked me not to name key players but have now decided that the big Levithans story must be told.
