I have temporarily removed the piece I published this morning concerning the above subject as I have received different information which questions the issues raised by the campaigners dealing with this. I have written to them to seek clarification and will decide whether the article can be published pending their response.
Apologies for intruding on your blog but I simply had to comment on your post. In three words - Facts Facts Facts.
ReplyDeleteIn the UK:
- tails are NEVER cut off dairy cows
- no growth hormones are permitted whatsoever
The applicants have stated clearly that they will use beef breeds on the cows or if dairy breeds they will use pre-sexed semen. Calves will not be reared for veal and never shot - they have never employed any systems like that on their existing farms.
By all means please write in and object but please check your facts before doing so! www.noctondairies.co.uk
Hello Amy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification, I am now reassured that the cruelty described by the aol supported email I received is not accurate. I shall write to the campaigner organising the petition and ask for an explanation. Its always good to get a balance view and you have suplied us with one. There is nothing wrong with working for a company that you are trying to defend if the information given out is wrong.
Best wishes
Nick, your response is very much appreciated - there is a HUGE amount of misinformation out that is causing well-intentioned people to sign up to petitions that are wholly misleading. I welcome your recognition of the importance of people having access to the facts so they can make informed decisions. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteWell I am an animal lover and I am concerned about the welfare of animals, I am not a vegetarian but would like to know that we use animals for our survival in humane ways, there is no need for anyone to be cruel to animals. I woould be very annoyed if some campaigner fed me and those reading my blog with incorrect information, it wouldn't be right. I am waiting for their response. Thanks for writing in.
ReplyDeleteRegards
Nick
