Ivory trade
It's surprising, but despite a ban on ivory trade, the U.S. is the world's second-largest retail market for elephant ivory. That means the U.S. is one of the major drivers of elephant poaching in Africa. End ivory trade in the US and all over the word. Ivory trade is possible despite an official ban because protections under the Endangered Species Act are riddled with loopholes. For example, tusks from African, but not Asian, elephants can be brought into the US as hunting throphies. We can't sit back and allow the U.S. to support a flourishing ivory trade while African and Asian elephants continue to die. Help close these ridiculous loopholes so that we can have a true ban on ivory trade in the U.S.
