Letter from RSPCA ( sample letter )
Dear Tim Waggot,
Following the resumption of live animal exports through the Port of Dover, I call on Dover Harbour Board to accept the offer from RSPCA inspectors to monitor the trade.
Unfortunately, the animal transport industry has frequently shown violations of UK and EU regulations and with Animal Health Officials only inspecting approximately 30% of animals at Dover, an RSPCA presence would bolster public confidence that animal welfare issues are being fully addressed within the port environment.
The welfare of farm animals is of great concern to me, so I hope the RSPCA will be present for the next shipment from Dover to inspect the animals and vehicles in same manner as they have done at the Port of Ramsgate.
I look forward to hearing from you on this important matter.
