The MP for Streatham found the time to twit only to tell us how much better the Germans are doing than us? As though we didn't know?
It amazes me that people in positions of 'responsibility' never look at the whole picture? He conveniently forgets that the Germans defaulted on their huge debt after the first and second world wars, never paid the reparations to countries they occupied and to make matters even simpler for them they were given a huge amount of money via the US Marshall plan to make sure that they were kept quite and happy. And of course their industry was built from scratch in the 50s with money paid by the USA?? They are doing better because they were greatly helped not because they are any better. Did Chuka not go to his history lessons when at school?
I have family in Germany when I go out to see them the one thing I notice of course is the manufacturing,my family live not to far from a steel plant and the small engineering works which go with it, my area is now about Asda Tesco and retail, while Germany is about heavy works.
ReplyDeleteI went with my Uncle to his works the BMW factory, it has the highest number of disabled people working for it, the cars have been slowed down to accommodate the speed of the workers, if a person puts up his hand the speed is altered again, if a person needs to leave the line, a replacement is sent in.
It made a record profit last year because the wages are reflected in the workers ability, I said ah yes they get paid less and I was told yes, they only get £780 a week.
The fact is we sold our selves out by deciding we would be the centre of capital or shop keepers as one French leader once said, he is wrong we are now a country of shop workers.
Education in Germany does not change each time they have an election, their welfare state is stronger, with real help for the disabled, your found a job, any employer who refuses to employ the disabled get fined the same as the wages of each person they refuse to employ.
The Health service does not change because some bright spark wants to flog it off to some American company.
The sad fact is German is way ahead of us. whether that's due to the help it had after the war or better planing in Government it's hard to say.

ReplyDeleteNot many people would disagree with the fact that Germany and German methods result in better production. I was just explaining the resons as to why their industry is so more efficient? And I am saying its because they were greatly helped to reconstruct after the war by the USA and other countries whilst the states that were destroyed during the war, like Greece, Serbia, Checoslovakia etc got very little support? Of course the Greeks and Serbians will have better industry if they got huge help via the Marshal plan to rebulit what the nazis destroyed? I don't think we disagree here..
